Sanibel Island was devastated by Hurricane Ian in 2022. But the resiliency of the island and its people is remarkable. While rebuilding is still ongoing, many restaurants and shops have returned and new ones have opened. There are still 25 miles of biking / walking trails and over 15 miles of beaches filled with shells.
